Eskenazi Health Ready to Assist During Special Health Insurance Open Enrollment Period

Indianapolis, Feb. 15, 2021 – With a special open enrollment period for 2021 health insurance plans scheduled to begin on Monday, Feb. 15, Eskenazi Health encourages anyone in need of health insurance to take advantage of this opportunity to learn about the various health coverage plans available with help from our highly-trained financial counselors. This new open enrollment period in the Marketplace will be available through May 15.

Ordinarily there is only one open enrollment period each year and after that everyone is locked out unless there is a life changing event. In 2020, the open enrollment period took place from Nov. 1-Dec. 15, but the new presidential administration in Washington, D.C., recently decreed via executive order that this open enrollment period be held for all those who are eligible to use the Marketplace. This includes people who are uninsured, under-insured, or already enrolled in a plan through the marketplace and wanting to switch to a different plan.

This invaluable opportunity will also help people who lost their jobs and health insurance benefits perhaps due to the pandemic, and those that have too large of an income for Medicare/Medicaid.

To provide the safest environment for everyone during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, highly experienced and knowledgeable Eskenazi Health navigators will be meeting by appointment only 1:1 with patients both in-person while using social distancing guidelines, and virtually.

“We know that exploring the numerous options available for health care insurance can be challenging. Eskenazi Health encourages everyone looking for assistance to visit with one of our highly qualified counselors,” said Lisa Harris, M.D., CEO of Eskenazi Health. “There are many differences in the wide variety of available health insurance plans and our experts will provide the advice you need to choose the best insurance options for you and your family.”

During this open enrollment period, Eskenazi Health will provide Financial Counseling services at:

  • Eskenazi Health Center West 38th Street
    • Mon. – Fri.: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital
    • Mon. – Thurs.: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
