Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center invites mental health professionals to attend our virtual educational speaker series. This webinar is scheduled for Thursday, May 8 from 4 - 5 p.m.

“Making Meaning of Client Loss: Considerations for the Clinician and Supervisor,” will feature Jackie Abate, Psy.D., HSPP, clinical psychologist, Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center Adult Outpatient Program, and Adam Craig, LMHC, clinical supervisor, Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center Assertive Community Treatment program.

Abate and Craig will discuss the impact losing clients has on staff and supervisors. Working with individuals diagnosed with serious mental illnesses and facing some of the greatest barriers in Marion County, losing clients to various causes of death is unfortunately too common. This presentation will focus on describing and normalizing the experience of losing clients and grieving for them; highlight the importance of openness, reflection, and meaning-making throughout the grief process; and address challenges to grief and meaning-making in a community mental health care setting.
