Eskenazi Health is one of only two Indiana hospital and health systems on the list. The other is Parkview Health in Fort Wayne. Organizations on the list include Massachusetts General Hospital, Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Becker's Healthcare developed this list based on nominations and editorial research.

“Our priority at Eskenazi Health remains the overall health of the community in the broadest possible terms,” said Dr. Lisa Harris, chief executive officer at Eskenazi Health. “Our biggest opportunity to have a positive impact on the health of our patients is committing to attracting the best and brightest minds in health and wellness, and providing the latest technology and treatments – all in an environment of learning, healing and healthful living.”

The Becker’s Hospital Review list showcases hospitals, health systems and health care companies that promote diversity within the workforce, employee engagement and professional growth.

In addition to providing competitive benefits, many members of the Becker’s list support volunteerism and organize community outreach activities.

Becker’s website included the following on Eskenazi Health: With a team of more than 4,000 staff members and 1,000 physicians, Eskenazi Health is one of Indianapolis' largest employers. Ten of the health system's 20 senior leaders are women, guiding a workforce in which 42 percent of employees represent minority populations. In 2018, an engagement survey was completed by 84 percent of Eskenazi employees — compared to the 60 percent national average — and demonstrated improvement over the 2015 survey for each question. Based on the results of an independent survey, Eskenazi Health was named among America's Best Mid-Size Employers in 2018 by Forbes magazine.

According to Becker’s Hospital Review, organizations selected for this list offer benefits and opportunities for employees to build successful careers above and beyond the average health care provider or company; they encourage professional development and promote leadership from within. Many members of the list offer unique wellness and personal benefits to ensure employees strike a positive work/life balance.
