On Thursday, April 14, The Whipstitch Sallies will perform in the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation Concourse at Eskenazi Health, located at 720 Eskenazi Ave., at noon. The event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the Eskenazi Health Parking Garage.
The band, which is a folk and bluegrass band, consists of three women and has been described as “bluegrass rockers with panache” with electrifying presence, traditional instruments and tight harmonies. The Whipstitch Sallies began as close friends who discovered bluegrass music for the first time. Their music has been described as “exuberant racket rooted in mountain music but informed by bluegrass, blues and indie rock.”
This concert is made possible by the Marianne Tobias Music Program at Eskenazi Health, which brings music to the patients, visitors and staff at Eskenazi Health.
