Eskenazi Health Hosts Stop the Bleed Training Sessions

July 9, 2018 – Eskenazi Health will be hosting several upcoming Stop the Bleed training sessions conducted by the Smith Level I Shock Trauma Center at Eskenazi Health.

The training is aimed at educating the public on bleeding control techniques including application of direct pressure, wound packing, and tourniquet usage. These highly interactive sessions help train participants in what to do before medical help arrives. It’s estimated that 20 percent of people who die from traumatic injuries could have survived with quick bleeding control.

These classes are being held in conjunction with Stop the Bleed, a national awareness campaign announced by the White House in 2015. Stop the Bleed is a call to action intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. For more information, visit www.bleedingcontrol.org.

Admission to these events for the public is free, but registration is required. For more information and to sign up, visit www.EskenaziHealth.edu/events or follow Eskenazi Health’s social media channels.
