Eskenazi Health Physician Recognized for Dedication to Patient Care - Eskenazi Health

St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild and Indiana Blood Center announced today that Dr. Aaron Kalinowski, chief physician executive at Eskenazi Health Pedigo, has been awarded the prestigious Achievement in Medicine (AIM) Award.

Dr. Kalinowski was nominated for his work to help connect homeless men and women with integrated and comprehensive mental health and primary care services. He helped establish Eskenazi Health Pedigo at Horizon House, a health center that brings both mental health and primary care services together at a day center that serves the homeless.

“The AIM Award reflects Eskenazi Health’s steadfast approach to modern medicine, embracing cutting-edge clinical technologies while honoring the dignity of every patient,” said Dr. Dan Waxman, interim president /CEO and chief medical officer at Indiana Blood Center. “Indiana Blood Center proudly joins in recognizing and celebrating Dr. Kalinowski’s exemplary dedication and commitment to patient care.”

The AIM Award recipient is selected by the St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild and honors a management-level member of the Eskenazi Health team who upholds the tradition of excellence in health care.

Dr. Kalinowski has served as a primary care physician with Eskenazi Health since completing his residency in internal medicine and family medicine in 2008. Prior to working as a physician, he worked as an epidemiologist with the Indiana State Department of Health.

While at Eskenazi Health, Dr. Kalinowski began spending part of his time working at a small clinic at Horizon House, which is a full-service agency that connects homeless neighbors with important services. Over the past seven years, he has helped develop the clinic into an integrated, comprehensive health center called Eskenazi Health Pedigo at Horizon House, which provides care to the most vulnerable patient populations in the city of Indianapolis. Dr. Kalinowski has also worked with Eskenazi Health Midtown Community Mental Health to begin offering primary care to patients with severe mental illnesses.

The AIM Award recipient is selected by the St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild. The guild is a volunteer organization committed to raising funds for the services and programs at Eskenazi Health. Founded in 1907, the guild has raised nearly $11 million for Eskenazi Health throughout the years. This is the 17th year for the AIM Award.

St. Margaret's Hospital Guild’s largest fundraising event is the annual Decorators' Show House and Gardens. This year’s event runs from April 30 through May 10, and guests will tour two homes at 4038 and 4044 N. Pennsylvania St. The homes will be open for public tours from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday (closed Mondays). Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.showhouseindy.org.
