Indianapolis, July 26, 2017 – On Saturday, Aug. 5, several local organizations will team up to offer free health screenings and helpful resources to the public at the Eskenazi Health Community Day Health Fair.
This year’s event will be at Eskenazi Health West 38th Street, 5515 W. 38th Street. The fair will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and is hosted by three Eskenazi Health locations, Eskenazi Health West 38th Street, Eskenazi Health Center Blackburn and Eskenazi Health Center Westside.
Everyone attending the fair will have the opportunity to meet nurses who provide care at the health center. Free health screenings provided to visitors will include blood pressure, BMI, diabetes, vision, oral health screenings and more. Free sports physicals will be available for everyone ages 10-21.
Knowledgeable personnel will be on hand at information booths covering a wide variety of health topics including but not limited to mental health, health insurance, CPR training, adolescent health, women’s health and nutrition.
In addition, Eskenazi Health will have a dedicated staff of navigators available to assist with health insurance enrollment, and a toll-free phone number – 1.855.202.1053 – has been established to connect patients with staff who can answer questions and provide assistance in navigating the various health coverage options available.
All guests will be eligible for door prizes and giveaways, and everyone is invited to attend a special 11 a.m. Town Hall Meeting.
Eskenazi Health Rehabilitation Services outpatient and other areas will be showcased at the health fair, and attendees will also have the opportunity to dispose of unwanted prescription medications during the event: One medication per container and no controlled or illegal substances.
“We want everyone to come to Eskenazi Health for their primary care needs, and our health fair is the perfect time to visit our outstanding Eskenazi Health West 38th Street facility and learn about health care and receive our free health screenings,” said Dr. Ken Klotz, chief medical officer for the Eskenazi Health Center. “Our friendly and knowledgeable staff looks forward to welcoming children to receive a free check-up or sports physical before returning back to school.”
Eskenazi Health West 38th Street brings comprehensive health care to the area served by the International Marketplace Coalition, formerly the Lafayette Square Area Coalition, in a way that is environmentally friendly, culturally focused and available for all. The facility was designed to represent a community center that also offers health care.
