A unique combination of spoken word and beatbox with piano accompaniment will fill the Eskenazi Health Farmer’s Market on Tuesday, June 7, when Indianapolis native Tony Styxx performs.
The free concert starts at noon in The Commonground at Eskenazi Health, located at 720 Eskenazi Ave. Parking is available in the Eskenazi Health Parking Garage.
Tony Styxx has been a performer on the Indianapolis scene since 2007. As a multi-talented artist, Styxx brings spoken word poetry, Hip-Hop and human beatboxing with a charismatic flare to the stage.
Styxx has performed with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and was a part of the #IndyWelcomesAll campaign. He is also featured in an Eskenazi Health art video, “The Healing Project," a collection featuring spoken word pieces performed by local artists Joseph ALLEN Woods, Naz Khalid, Styxx and Januarie York. “The Healing Project” is made available to Eskenazi Health patients through a television channel specifically dedicated to art on all televisions on the main Eskenazi Health campus.
The June 7 concert is made possible by the Marianne Tobias Music Program at Eskenazi Health, which brings music to the patients, visitors and staff at Eskenazi Health. To learn more about the Marianne Tobias Music Program, and to find a list of upcoming concerts, please contact the Eskenazi Health Foundation at 317.880.4900.
Every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., The Commonground is transformed into a farmers’ market with several vendors, local farmers and games. The market goes throughout the summer months and ends Tuesday, Sept. 13.
