Julie Conrad Named Chief Counsel and Vice President of Legal Affairs at Eskenazi Health

Conrad brings more than 20 years of experience to position

Indianapolis, June 6, 2017 – Eskenazi Health announces that Julie Conrad, JD, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, has been appointed to the position of chief counsel and vice president of legal affairs. Conrad previously served as associate chief counsel at Eskenazi Health.

During her tenure with Eskenazi Health, Conrad has played an integral role in key initiatives, including the formation of Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services and Eskenazi Medical Group, the achievement of federally qualified health care system status for Eskenazi Health Center, and the creation of the Medical-Legal Partnership and Volunteer Advocates Program.  She replaces Jessica Barth, who announced in May that she will be leaving Eskenazi Health to join the private law firm of Faegre Baker Daniels.

“Julie is highly skilled, innovative and service oriented, bringing more than 20 years of experience to this position,” said Dr. Lisa Harris, CEO of Eskenazi Health. “She has legal expertise in many different areas with a strong focus on health care and employment law.”

In Conrad’s most recent role, serving as associate chief counsel, she assisted with the development of organizational policies and procedures; drafted and negotiated contracts and agreements for day-to-day operations, employment and grants; advised senior leadership and other stakeholders on legal issues; worked with outside counsel; and represented Eskenazi Health in employment and other litigation matters. Prior to joining Eskenazi Health in 2006, Conrad worked for Ice Miller, LLP and Johnson Smith, LLP, as well as other private law practices.

An active member in the community, Conrad serves on the Indianapolis School of Ballet Board of Directors and the Adult Guardianship Coalition of Central Indiana Advisory Board. She is also a United Way agency evaluator. She previously served on the Board of Directors for ArtMix (formerly VSA of Indiana), as well as on the Executive Committees of the Labor and Employment Section and the Women and the Law Division of the Indianapolis Bar Association. She is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, the Society for Human Resources Management and the Tri Kappa Philanthropic Society.

Conrad has earned numerous certifications over her career, including becoming a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, a Senior Professional in Human Resources and a Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional. Most recently, she was honored as a Leadership in Law Distinguished Barrister by Indiana Lawyer.
