Free concert will showcase classic Latin jazz selections
Indianapolis, Sept. 8, 2017 – Recognized and appreciated for their high-energy and challenging music, jazz trio Pavel Polanco-Safadit & Direct Contact will perform a free concert at the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital on Thursday, Sept. 14.
In partnership with the 2017 Indy Jazz Fest (Sept. 14-23), the concert will begin at 12 p.m. (noon) in the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation Concourse where everyone will have the opportunity to celebrate the trio’s Latin jazz music. The concert will offer a preview of the group’s upcoming “Colombia” concert at the Indianapolis Central Library on Sunday, Sept. 17.
2013 Chicago Music Awards nominee and director of the jazz program at Earlham College, Polanco-Safadit teams up with 2013 Indianapolis Jazz Hall of Fame Inductee Steve Dokken and Latin American music specialist Raul Padro to form a highly-entertaining Latin jazz trio.
Featured as headline performers at countless festivals, universities, churches and conventions and showcased in many radio and television appearances throughout the Midwest, this unique jazz ensemble served as the headliner for the 2010 Evansville Jazz Wine Arts Festival.
Direct Contact is a unique trio with a distinctive combination of flavors providing jazz aficionados with an unforgettable listening experience. Through the years, these talented musicians have shared the stage with major jazz artists such as Dave Valentin and many others.
This free concert is part of the Marianne Tobias Music Program at Eskenazi Health, which brings music to patients, visitors and staff at Eskenazi Health. Tobias helped to establish the program, including donating a concert grand piano that resides in the main concourse of the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital.
