Recipe of the Month: Oatmeal with Apples, Pecans and Cinnamon

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 tsp. sea salt 
  • 2 small apples, chopped
  • 1 cup dry old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. pure maple syrup or honey (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped raw pecans
     

Preparation

1.  Bring water and salt to a boil in medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring frequently. 
2.  Add apple, oats and cinnamon.
3.  Cook over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, for 3 to 5 minutes.
4.  Let oatmeal stand for 1 minute before serving.
5.  Divide evenly into 2 serving bowls
6.  Top with maple syrup and pecans.
