The Eskenazi Health Critical Care Recovery Center is a program that assists with a patient’s recovery after a stay in the intensive care unit. Patients may experience physical, emotional and/or cognitive problems (thinking/memory) during critical illness or injury, and the Critical Care Recovery Center team helps them regain strength and function so they can resume their lives.
The team consists of a pulmonary/critical care specialist, nurse, social worker, critical care pharmacist, medical assistant and psychologist. Team members work in tandem with a patient’s primary care provider to ensure that treatment is in accordance with a patient’s medical history and that needs continue to be met once treatment at the center is complete.
Patients must be 18 years or older to be treated in the program, with typical treatment lasting six to 12 months. The center is located on the sixth floor of the Sandra Eskenazi Outpatient Care Center.
