While physical and occupational therapy may be the most well-known forms of rehabilitation, these services are just two of many types of rehabilitative services available to patients recovering from illness or injury. The act of rehabilitation, in which the body rebuilds its strength and retrains its muscle group functions after battling a serious condition, can be performed on many areas of the body, each with a different function and focus.
Based at Eskenazi Health Center West 38th Street, Eskenazi Health Thomas & Arlene Grande Campus, and the Sandra Eskenazi Outpatient Care Center, Eskenazi Health Rehabilitation Services specialists provide physical, occupational and speech therapy on an outpatient basis. Encompassing the full continuum of rehabilitative care, the care team provides therapy to children and adults for a wide range of needs related to orthopaedics, neurology, speech language pathology, swallowing deficits, pelvic health (male and female) and women’s health issues. A team of physical therapists and occupational therapists specializing in burn care, wound care and lymphedema is also conveniently located in the Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center, within the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital.
