Indianapolis, August 3, 2022 – Eskenazi Health was recently named Indiana’s top hospital for community benefit and health equity by the Lown Institute.
With over 3,600 hospitals evaluated and ranked, the community benefit metric measures hospital spending on charity care and community health initiatives, as well as their service of Medicaid patients. Community benefit is a composite of three details including charity care, Medicaid revenue, and community investment. Similarly, Eskenazi Health was evaluated and ranked as the top hospital in Indiana for health equity. Nationally, Eskenazi Health was ranked among 3,600 hospitals based on pay equity, inclusivity, and community benefits.
For over 160 years, Eskenazi Health has supported patients and the community by providing and advocating for quality health care and health care education while aiming to reduce social determinants of health individuals may face accessing routine medical care. Programs and initiatives such as food as medicine, the Fresh for You Market and the Medical-Legal Partnership are just a few examples of how Eskenazi Health cares and advocates for patients and the community it serves.
