Exercise of the Month: Tree Pose

  1. Stand with both feet flat on the floor, shifting your weight slightly onto the left foot and bending your right knee.  

  2. Reach down with your right hand and clasp your right ankle.

  3. Draw your right foot up and place the sole against the inner left thigh.

  4. Rest your hands on your hips, making sure they are in neutral position.  

  5. Lengthen your tailbone towards the floor.  

  6. Press the right sole of your foot against the inner thigh and resist the outer left leg.

  7. Press hands together and gaze softly at a fixed point in front of you.

  8. Hold pose for 30 seconds to a minute.

  9. Step back to both feet flat on the floor and repeat on the other side.
