Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) that provides services to anyone in Marion County, Indiana seeking mental health or substance use treatment. Care is available to all, regardless of ability to pay, age, race, ethnicity, language, sexual/gender orientation or place of residence. Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center supports the greater mission of Eskenazi Health to advocate, care, teach and serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable populations of Marion County.

The following clinical and supportive services are available:

  • Crisis services, including mobile crisis dispatched through 988

  • Outpatient mental health and substance use services

  • Person- and family-centered treatment planning

  • Community-based mental health care for veterans

  • Peer family support and counselor services

  • Targeted care management

  • Outpatient primary care screening and monitoring

  • Psychiatric rehabilitation services

  • Screening, diagnosis and risk assessment

In addition to these core services, Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center also provides methadone treatment at the Caring Recovery Opioid Treatment Program, inpatient psychiatric services at the Kathi & Bob Postlethwait Mental Health Recovery Center, and residential services at three different locations to ensure higher levels of care for those needing intensive mental health and/or substance use services.

Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center strives to provide high-quality services that promote independence and recovery for persons experiencing challenges due to mental health issues and/or substance use. Consistent with the Recovery Model, recovery is viewed as an individual process that is best supported through relationships that instill hope, including professional supports and the development of family and social support networks in the community. Services meet people where they are in terms of their sociocultural context and are individualized according to their needs and preferences. Trauma, societal marginalization and stigma are recognized as major issues in recovery, and services are offered sensitive to their impact.

Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center outpatient locations are open to all, and services are not denied to individuals based on inability to pay. Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center outpatient locations have a discounted/sliding fee schedule available that bases discounts on family size and income.

To ensure the Marion County community has timely access to outpatient behavioral health treatment services, Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center utilizes a same day access intake model at the following behavioral health clinic locations:

Same day access is simple. If you are interested in starting outpatient treatment, you do not need to make an appointment. Please come to one of the above locations Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. to complete an intake evaluation to start treatment services. If the intake evaluation cannot be completed that day, the Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center team will work with you to complete it so you may begin treatment as soon as possible.

In case of a mental health emergency, you may also go to the Thota Rao, M.D., & Aruna Rau, M.D., Crisis Intervention Unit on the Eskenazi Health downtown campus from 8:30 a.m. – 11 p.m. From 11 p.m. - 8:30 a.m., emergency psychiatric services are provided by crisis specialist clinicians in the Michael & Susan Smith Emergency Department also on the Eskenazi Health downtown campus.
