Mental Health - Eskenazi Health

Mental health services provided within the primary care setting focus on short-term, solution-focused therapy to support patients ages 6 and up with a variety of mental health needs including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief/loss and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Substance use disorder treatment is available for adults ages 18 and up.

Eskenazi Health Center provides culturally competent care that includes a variety of patient identities and experiences, which may include postpartum/peripartum mental health, anxiety pertaining to medical concerns, LGBTQ+ patients, chronic illness impacting mental health and more. Psychiatric medication management services are also available.

For existing patients, please ask your primary care team to place a referral for mental health services or call Eskenazi Health Connections at 317.880.7666 to make an appointment with a primary care provider.

  • Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Care for Recovery at Eskenazi Health Center

    Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Care for Recovery at Eskenazi Health Center is here to support patients in their recovery journeys by providing treatment and support to adult patients with a substance use disorder within primary care. Services include linkage to primary care providers, board-certified addiction providers, licensed substance use therapists, peer recovery coaches, social workers, medication for opioid use disorders, medication-assisted treatment and group therapy.

    Non-judgmental support and treatment for substance use disorders including:

    • Opioid use disorder
    • Alcohol use disorder
    • Stimulant use disorder (e.g., cocaine and methamphetamine)
    • Cannabis use disorder (e.g., synthetic cannabis use disorder)
    • Hallucinogenic use disorder
    • Smoking/nicotine cessation

    Treatment for depression, anxiety, PTSD and other mental health conditions is provided by the team, with referral to psychiatric specialists available as needed.

    For more information, please call 317.719.0383 to speak with a Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Care for Recovery at Eskenazi Health Center access coordinator. Alternatively, a call can be placed to Eskenazi Health Connections at 317.880.7666 to make an appointment with an addiction specialist within primary care. Existing patients are encouraged to ask their primary care team to place a referral for SUD services within primary care.

  • Circle of Recovery for Families

    Eskenazi Health offers services for pregnant people with opioid and other substance use disorders. The program has a family-centered approach and provides a primary care home for patients, in addition to substance use disorder treatment. Services are ongoing throughout pregnancy and beyond, building long-term relationships between families and the health care team.

    Services include prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care, primary and substance-related care, pediatric primary and developmental care, and counseling for pregnant and postpartum people and their support partners. Buprenorphine (Suboxone) and methadone are available for medication-assisted treatment.

    Treatment for depression, anxiety, PTSD and other mental health conditions is provided by the team, with referral to psychiatric specialists available as needed. The foundation of the program is team-based care provided with respect and compassion.
