On Saturday, Sept. 12, several local organizations will team up to offer free health screenings, teen sports physicals, family entertainment, free food and helpful resources to the public at Eskenazi Health Center Community Day.

For years, Eskenazi Health has been laying the groundwork and conducting research necessary to create a new approach to brain care. Today, Eskenazi Health stands on the threshold of something truly innovative as it announces the new Sandra Eskenazi Center for Brain Care Innovation, the first of its kind in the nation.

Due to increasing patient volumes, Eskenazi Health is looking for nurses to fill positions in a variety of departments. Those interested should attend.

Eskenazi Health Foundation received support from Lilly Endowment Inc. to help Eskenazi Health expand its pioneering internship program for students with physical disabilities. Lilly Endowment is providing funding for the Eskenazi Health Initiative for Empowerment and Economic Independence, a partnership between Eskenazi Health and Ball State University’s Bowen Center for Public Affairs.

Dr. Middleton was also very active in the community. He was elected to the board of the Metropolitan YMCA in 1952 and served on various committees, including president of the Senate Avenue YMCA. He took a leading role in raising funds for the Fall Creek Parkway YMCA, which opened in 1959.

On Saturday, July 11, Eskenazi Health Palliative Care and the Eskenazi Health Cycling Team will embark on the annual Ride to Remember (R2R6).

One of the 19 artists commissioned to create original works for the Eskenazi Health campus has been recognized nationally for his efforts.

The Eskenazi Health Foundation announced today that the Future Promises program has received a grant totaling $125,000 from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust. The funds will allow Future Promises to expand its program to Arsenal Technical High School and Eskenazi Health.

In cooperation with Eskenazi Health, the Indiana Institute for Personalized Medicine, the Indiana University School of Medicine and the Regenstrief Institute are evaluating how genetics impact the responsiveness and efficacy of certain drugs. It is believed to be the first study of its kind to examine both the economic and clinical value of implementing personalized medicine.

A large pedestrian-worn pathway that has been a popular cross country course for many years will host its first major event on a recently enhanced course. The inaugural Indiana Urban Wilderness Run will be held Saturday, June 13, on the downtown trail with other events throughout the weekend.
