Lisa Bracken, who is the manager of central staffing for PRN nurses and care techs at Eskenazi Health, was excited about her daughter Taylor’s recent return to school and first practice of the season in her favorite sport. “My daughter is 10, and it was the first day of school and the first day of cross country practice, and they were doing a running backwards drill as a warmup and a little girl tripped and fell and another girl who was running backwards tripped over her, and my daughter ended up being the third pile on. As she fell she put one arm back and she didn’t get up. She was crying and saying that her arm hurt really bad. "

This exercise strengthens the abdomen and back.

The Jewish Community Center Indianapolis (JCC), in partnership with Eskenazi Health, will host several events aimed at educating women on important health issues at a Women’s Health Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 14. The event will take place at the JCC at 6701 Hoover Rd.

Oct. 29, 2018 – Ghosts, goblins, creepy costumes and haunted houses are all traditional aspects of the Halloween season, but while enjoying the fun and scary aspects of Halloween, experts at Eskenazi Health encourage everyone to be on the lookout for the all too real and harmful incidences that occur this time of year.

Indianapolis, Oct. 16, 2018 – The Marianne Tobias Music Program at Eskenazi Health will showcase members of the Indianapolis Opera Resident Artists Program during a free concert on Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis.

Oct. 8, 2018 – Members of the general public are invited to join Eskenazi Health employees in participating in a blood drive from 12-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Eskenazi Health West 38th Street. Each blood donor will receive a free movie ticket.

The fall season has arrived and with it many of us are already locked into the football season, are looking forward to our favorite fall festivals, picking out Halloween costumes for our kids and preparing to enjoy the brilliant fall colors. Backyard bonfires and the pleasant smell of burning leaves are also constants during the season, as are the real possibilities of serious injuries from improper use of gasoline, kerosene and other accelerants that can turn a pleasant seasonal get-together into a potentially disastrous situation.
